Recently I've done a lot of public health and mental health coverage, as well as worked on podcasts related to welfare policy and property insurance. I'm at American Public Media, where I also work on internal apps and analytics for our newsrooms. I started my career in climate science and communications, and I continue to do reporting on that topic too.
I love collaborating with other journalists, via which I've been on teams that have won awards from the Association of Health Care Journalists and the Society of Professional Journalist's DC Chapter + a named a finalist for an award from Investigative Reporters and Editors.
I aspire to do more journalism through a solutions lens. I do most of my analysis work in R, and some visualizations with R + Illustrator. I also use Flourish and Datawrapper for visuals, and have working knowledge of QGIS, Python, HTML and CSS.
